The tools are yours mayor, now it's up to you to build a sustainable world for the future. Tear down forests, construct towering high-rises, build a bustling cityscape full of life, or take the greenfingered approach and support native wildlife and build environmentally sustainable cities with clean energy and a plentiful water supply. The choice is yours.

All In 100 Years

You have 100 years to build your world before it will be judged and your final score will be calculated. The score is determined by all of your actions throughout the first 100 years. Ideally, you want to have the largest population, with the best economy and best environmental health. Now, that's easier said than done. Especially with other factors stacked against you. When creating a world you can customise various options such as region size, number of regions, starting cash and overall game difficulty. Choose wisely as you cannot change these values once you create your world.

Don't Let Your People Down Mayor

The key to growing the cities you start to build is to maintain a steady population growth. This can easily be done so long as you keep your cities well powered and watered at all times. Keeping their productivity above 50% will ensure you don't start to lose people in your cities. When the time comes you can upgrade your residential tiles to larger cityscapes which will allow for further and faster growth, however at a greater energy and water cost.

It's All About Balance

Maintaining balance in your world is vital to its survival. Lean too much in one direction and the whole place will tip on its side leaving you bankrupt and your people packing their bags. At all times you need to ensure every structure you build has its requirements met each year, or it might not be there the next. On top of that you need to manage your money. Splash out on the wrong thing at the wrong time and you could find yourself in the red. Stay there too long and you'll have no choice but to file for bankruptcy, declaring defeat and being booted out of office. Not good at all.

How To Stay In Office

Being a mayor is tough, made even tougher when you're being seen doing the wrong things. If you want to stay in office for more than a week you'll need to make sure your cash is always in the black and your population never reaches 0. Pretty easy right?

The Next Year

You're only human, mayor. Nobody can see the future. You will need to plan your world's development around a few unknowns. The most important being, how much rainfall you receive in the coming year. In times of drought, you'd best hope you have enough water stored to get you and your people through it. In times of plentiful rain, you'd better have some pretty big buckets to catch it all and store it for the future. These come in the form of weirs and dams, but they aren't cheap. This problem can be somewhat alleviated with the construction of a desalination plant, but they're not cheap and you can only build them close to the ocean. On top of this, you'll also need to manage your structural productivity. Keeping structures powered and watered will increase their productivity, leaving them without electricity and dry will run them straight into the ground and your profit margins will soon follow.
